Brick piers, iron spandrels, a timber canopy. Three materials the city already knows how to repair, and a proportion borrowed from the shophouse fronts further up Nimmanhaemin. A new building on an old soi does not need to raise its voice.

Muralists, ceramicists and print makers all work within a few hundred metres of Soi 4. Four of them are painting the arcade wall, and most keep their studios open in the afternoon.
